The Chinese PLA Navy’s 83rd taskforce, consisting of the training ship Qi Jiguang and the comprehensive landing ship Yimengshan, arrived at Singapore’s Changi Naval Base on Tuesday, officially commencing a four-day goodwill visit to Singapore.
Chinese Ambassador to Singapore Cao Zhongming, embassy officials and staff, representatives of local Chinese students, and representatives of the Singapore Navy held a welcome ceremony at the pier to jointly greet the arrival of the task group, according to the China Central Television (CCTV).
PLA officers and sailors of the task group will visit Singapore Navy military facilities and the Singapore Navy Museum. During the port call, the Qi Jiguang will also host a deck reception.
According to CCTV News, the navies of China and Singapore will conduct practical and efficient military exchanges and send officers and sailors to visit each other’s ships.
PLA Navy taskforce’s exchanges activities in Singapore came after their goodwill visits to Cambodia and Thailand, two ASEAN partners of China.
