First established by the United Nations in 1954 and falling on November 20 every year, World Children’s Day aims to raise awareness about protecting children’s rights and improving their welfare around the world. With this year’s theme of “For every child, every right,” this special day for children is being celebrated with a range of activities across China.
To mark World Children’s Day, a sports event featuring amusing games was held at an elementary school in Congjiang, Guizhou Province. Through interaction and close cooperation between the pupils and their parents during the games, the children not only had a lot of fun but also strengthened their bonds with their parents.
Meanwhile in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, a picture book exhibition opened to mark this international day for children. Featuring artworks by renowned artists Liu Xiao and Qu Zijun, the exhibition aims to provide a unique space for parents to spend time with their children. The art show will run until December 18.
Elsewhere in China, a diverse range of sporting and cultural activities were also held ahead of World Children’s Day to promote the healthy and all-round development of children.
