China opposes drawing lines along ideological differences, says FM on Vance’s remarks at AI summit

In response to a question regarding US Vice President JD Vance’s speech at AI summit in Paris which claimed authoritarian regimes are using AI to advance their own agendas, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun stated that regarding cooperation in AI, we have repeatedly emphasized that China actively embraces intelligent transformation, vigorously promotes the innovative development of AI, places high attention on AI safety, and supports and encourages enterprises to engage in independent innovation. 

China also actively promotes the inclusive development of AI, helping developing countries in strengthening their capacity building, advocates for open-source AI technology to enhance the accessibility of AI services, Guo said.  

At the same time, we oppose drawing lines along ideological differences, oppose the overstretching national security concepts, and the politicization of economic and technological issues, Guo stressed.
