The Chongqing Municipal Public Security Bureau in Southwest China announced on Tuesday that it has launched a criminal investigation into Taiwan separatist activist Shen Pao-yang, who is suspected of committing secessionist crimes by founding and operating the so-called “Black Bear Academy,” an organization advocating “Taiwan independence.”
The investigation, based on China’s Criminal Law and related judicial opinions on punishing “Taiwan independence” hardliners, aims to hold Shen criminally accountable for his separatist actions, according to the Xinhua News Agency.
In October 2024, China’s Taiwan Affairs Office designated Shen, 43, from Taipei, as one of the stubborn “Taiwan independence” force. The Chongqing Public Security Bureau called on the public to provide relevant information to assist in the investigation, pledging strict confidentiality for all informants. Reports can be submitted by email CQGACTD@163.com or by phone 023-65697660.
