Chinese Vice President Han Zheng addressed a leading investment forum here Tuesday, urging joint efforts to pursue win-win cooperation and achieve common prosperity.
Promoting development and prosperity is a common pursuit of the international community and a common task facing all countries, especially developing ones, he said at the ninth Future Investment Initiative (FII) conference.
The concept of building a community with a shared future for humanity, as well as the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, the Global Civilization Initiative, and the Global Governance Initiative, proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping, have charted the course for all countries to achieve peaceful development and common prosperity, he said.
A few days ago, Han noted, the fourth plenary session of the 20th Communist Party of China Central Committee was successfully held, which summarized China’s achievements and experiences over the past five years, and mapped out a blueprint for China’s development over the next five years, sending a clear signal for further deepening reform comprehensively and promoting high-level opening up.
The vice president put forward four proposals in his speech. First, strengthening innovation-driven development and promoting green development.
Stressing that China is accelerating the building of an open innovation ecosystem with global competitiveness, and developing new quality productive forces suited to local conditions, he said that China is willing to work with all countries to promote the cooperation of traditional, emerging, and future industries, continuously stimulating development momentum, and driving the green and low-carbon transformation of the world economy.
Second, upholding openness and cooperation and promoting mutual benefit and win-win results. Noting that China has always adhered to the basic national policy of opening up, Han said China is not only a beneficiary of economic globalization, but also a contributor, defender, and promoter of it.
China is willing to work with all countries to promote greater resilience, efficiency, and vitality in the global industrial and supply chains, and inject more certainty and positive energy into the world economic recovery and global development and prosperity, according to the vice president.
Third, advocating people-centered development and achieving common prosperity. China has always adhered to a people-centered development philosophy, and is advancing the comprehensive development of individuals and the common prosperity of all its people in the process of Chinese modernization, he said.
Countries should jointly promote universally beneficial and inclusive economic globalization so that different countries and social groups can share the benefits of development, Han said, noting that China is willing to work with developing countries to share development opportunities and jointly move towards modernization.
Fourth, enhancing shared visions and deepening solidarity and coordination. In the face of the ever-increasing global challenges, the destinies of countries are interconnected, and it is necessary to seek common ground in visions on the basis of mutual respect, he said.
China is willing to work with the international community to practice genuine multilateralism, uphold the global governance concept of extensive consultation, joint contribution, and shared benefits, work together to promote a more just and equitable global governance system, and jointly build a community with a shared future for humanity, Han added.
Noting that China and the Middle East enjoy a long history of friendship and cooperation, Han said China stands ready to work with Saudi Arabia and other countries in the region to deepen friendly collaboration, advance high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, and forge a more multidimensional pattern of energy cooperation.
The two sides, he suggested, should also speed up efforts to secure new progress in financial and investment cooperation, foster new highlights in cultural and people-to-people exchanges, and explore new frontiers in innovation collaboration, to make fresh contributions to the development and prosperity of countries in the region and create new opportunities for global growth.
The FII conference is the largest and most influential investment and innovation forum in the Middle East. Themed “The key to prosperity: unlocking new frontiers of growth,” the latest edition will feature some 250 events and gather more than 8,000 delegates from around the world, including leaders of 16 countries.
